At Warrnambool Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, we aim to create a positive and nurturing environment at our gym where no matter your age, gender or ability. We build on your foundations to provide you with a well-structured BJJ program with lessons that suit your self-defence requirements. By teaching you effective and realistic self-defence skills, you’ll remain calm and in control of the situation as well as give you strategies to identify and overcome the situation.
Warrnambool Brazilian Jiu Jitsu not only teaches martial arts we also educate and explain the use of force principles and the levels of force that can be used in real-life self-defence applications (reasonable force versus excessive force).
When you join our BJJ club, you’re welcomed with open arms and feel the warmth of the club when you step through the doors. When you commence your training with us, it’ll be an experience unlike anything else you have tried before. No matter your goals, your BJJ journey awaits with us at Warrnambool Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
As a beginner at Warrnambool Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, you’ll learn the basic foundations of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu – posture and balance, basic positions and transitioning between these positions. This then takes your learning into submissions and sweeps.
As you progress, your content knowledge increases and you’ll learn more advanced and technical positions, submissions, passes and sweeps.
Training at Warrnambool Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a great way for you to stay fit and healthy but also a great way to stay in contact with others from the same community as you.
We recommend that people try and make it to class at least twice a week. The more the better. Frequent training is the key when you’re first learning Brazilian Jiu Jitsu as you start to understand the foundations of BJJ and how/where it can be applied. The more often you attend, the more information you’ll be able to retain and apply the techniques correctly.
